Morocco-Spain: ‘Partnership Cannot Be Built on Unfounded Indictments and Sterile Rhetoric’, Says FM

United Nations (New York) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, said on Thursday in New York that “partnership cannot be built on unfounded indictments and sterile rhetoric,” following talks with his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares.

“Statements made by Spanish political figures unfortunately show that they do not appreciate the value of this partnership, worse still, they do not know today’s Morocco and have no understanding of the migration issue or how it is managed,” Bourita told the press.

In this regard, he stressed that migration, the partnership and the neighborhood relationship “cannot be managed through one-upmanship, indictments, and unfounded accusations.”

The minister deplored the fact that this sterile debate is still continuing today, fueled by “prominent political figures who continue to engage in controversy, indictments and baseless accusations, and to insult the value of this partnership.”
