Trilateral Summit in New York:

Gideon Saar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Michael Folls, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar held a trilateral political summit today (Wednesday, September 16) in New York with Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Michael Folls, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Mr. Sa’ar is also expected to meet with Mr. Bourita later today for a bilateral meeting.

At the summit, the three countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Israeli-Moroccan relations, including elevating the level of diplomatic relations between Israel and Morocco, upgrading diplomatic missions in both countries to embassies, and appointing ambassadors.

Israel and Morocco committed to finalizing investment protection and double taxation avoidance agreements by the end of 2026, which will facilitate mutual investment and help strengthen economic and trade ties between the two countries.

Furthermore, it was agreed to expand direct flights between Israel and Morocco to include Royal Air Maroc flights, which will be implemented in the coming weeks.

The summit participants also agreed to organize high-level reciprocal visits in the coming months.

Israel thanked the United States for its leadership and continued efforts in promoting peace and security, which made this trilateral summit possible and contributed to strengthening Israeli-Moroccan relations.

This summit took place the day after a reception hosted the previous day by Ambassador Volz at his residence, on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the Abraham Accords. Representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Israel, and the United States participated.
