Five Dead and Six Injured in Spanish fireworks Factory Explosion

Five people were killed and six others were injured in the explosion of a factory of fireworks near Zaragoza, northeast Spain, announced the regional government of Aragon.

Four partially bodies were found at the scene of the explosion and seven injured were hospitalized but “one of the injured died in hospital, bringing the death toll to five,” the government said in a statement.

A previous review reported three injured and three missing.

The explosion occurred early this afternoon for unknown reasons.

On pictures of the Spanish Red Cross posted on a social network, you could see several plumes of smoke out of the various warehouses of the company, on their 12 hectares of land.

The company Pirotecnia Zaragozana SA is located less than 10km from Zaragoza Airport. Founded in 1860, employs more than 40 people in the manufacture of fireworks and exports throughout Europe and Canada, according to its website.
