Morocco’s Foreign Ministry on Monday strongly condemned the attacks on the Saudi embassy in Tehran and its consulate in Mashhad.
“These acts are inconsistent with diplomatic norms and practices”, Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar told the press, calling on the Islamic Republic of Iran to “abide by international obligations in this regard to guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions and their staff”.
He also expressed Morocco’s “continued solidarity” with brotherly Saudi Arabia, reiterating the kingdom’s call to restore calm and prevent any dangerous escalation in an already troubled regional context.
