Rabat – The Interior Minister, Mohamed Assad and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Interior, Charki Draiss, held Saturday at the Interior Ministry in Rabat, a meeting with the Walis of the regions and Governors of provinces, prefectures and prefectural districts of the Kingdom devoted to forthcoming elections, the major projects launched in Morocco, socially oriented issues and the security situation in the country.
the meeting was attended by the Minister of Justice and Freedom, the Director General of Studies and Documentation, the Director General of National Security and surveillance of the national territory, the Major General, Commander second representing the Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, Inspector General Division of Civil Protection, Inspector Brigadier of Auxiliary Forces (northern zone), Brigadier General Inspector of the auxiliary forces (south zone) and several officials of central administration at the Interior Ministry.
At the beginning of the meeting, the issue of the forthcoming elections was discussed in light of the High Guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI given at the Council of Ministers of 14 October 2014 and which formed the General preparation for these dates, the statement said.
The meeting was an opportunity to highlight the various steps taken by the preparations of these deadlines and to focus on the determination of the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Department of Justice and freedoms, as part of the Central Commission responsible for monitoring elections, to take all measures capable of honoring all the commitments in both the preparation of legal texts governing these deadlines that taking organizational measures thereto, logistical preparations or materials relating to the necessary funding for its various stages, and that a participatory approach with the various political, trade union and professional.
The meeting was also an opportunity to address the need to work to improve and modernize the electoral process in order to devote its credibility and integrity, and invite the territorial administration to observe complete neutrality, to support the democratic choice adopted by the Morocco.
A particular emphasis was placed in this context, on firmness in taking the necessary measures on the part of Justice against officials involved in achieving the transparency of elections, says the Ministry of Interior, adding that the same firmness will be put into the fight against the perpetrators of Free rumors and lies and accusations against the local authorities aimed at undermining their impartiality and good supervision of the electoral process.
This meeting was also an opportunity to remind the High Majesty King Mohammed VI instructions contained in the Speech from the Throne on July 30, 2015, which constitutes a baseline for the provisions and measures to be taken by the Ministry Interior in coordination with the various ministries concerned with the success of major projects underway in Morocco.
In this context, several issues related to the competence of the Interior Ministry were reviewed, whose territorial and social development in rural areas in light of the high royal guidelines contained in the throne speech this year, the field study that was conducted to identify the deficit in infrastructure and social services in rural areas, as well as ways to implement to solve this deficit through a partnership with different government sectors, local authorities and the National Human Development Initiative, with a view to mobilize funds to finance the projects and ensure their programming to improve the lives of rural citizens.
This meeting also examine other topics of a social nature, including the situation of street vendors, by reviewing the outline of the qualification program which will be launched in the near future in different prefectures and provinces of the Kingdom, and will be integrated into the transversal program of the NHRI, notes the Ministry of Interior.
Regarding the security situation, the focus was on the continuation of efforts and coordination between local authorities and the various security services to deal with terrorist threats and the fight against crime, in order to ensure peace and the security of citizens and protection of their property, emphasizing the results recorded in this context and the need to continue efforts to strengthen vigilance and develop the performance of the administrative authorities and security services.
