Mohammed VI and Macky Sall Chaired Kickoff of Fish Landing Point in Dakar

Dakar – King Mohammed VI and Senegalese President Macky Sall, gave the kickoff of construction of a landscaped landing point of traditional fishing in the site Soumbedioune in Dakar.

The envelope of this project, funded by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sustainable Development, is estimated at 20 million dirhams.

The project includes ten entities to improve the reception of fish and daily sinners’ artisans. The building includes a fish market, a cold room and an ice factory, socio-collective spaces and administrative offices, a fish processing area, a market retail, mechanical workshops and pontoons for landing fish.

The Senegalese Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs will manage the project schemes allocation to beneficiaries’ fishermen and maintenance of components of the project upon receipt.

Achieving this fitted landing aims to create a center of socio-economic development, employment generation and improvement of working conditions for local fishermen, while providing a structured framework for an activity craft already present on site with significant potential future development.

The launch of work for this project comes within the framework of the visit of work and friendship, which began last Wednesday by HM the King in Senegal, the first step of an African tour that will also take the Sovereign to Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast and Gabon.

A warm welcome was reserved for His Majesty the King on this occasion by the inhabitants of Dakar and members of the Moroccan community established in Senegal who chanted cheers to the Sovereign of the address and songs and slogans expressing their feelings of joy and enthusiasm of the illustrious guest of Senegal.
