Northern Mali: Nine Soldiers Killed in Ambush Against Army Convoy

Bamako – Nine Malian soldiers were killed Monday during an ambush by Tuareg rebels against an army convoy in northern Iraq, said the Ministry of Defence.

‘in the region of Timbuktu, a refueling mission of FAMA (Malian Armed Forces) from Goundam was ambushed near the town of Tin Telout,’ ‘said a statement from ministry.

The same source states that “during this ambush by elements of the Coalition of Movements of Azawad (CMA, Tuareg rebels), nine Malian soldiers died and fourteen were wounded.3

On 5 May, fighting between the Malian army and Tuareg rebels in Ténenko in the center of the country, had 10 deaths in the ranks of the rebellion and one of the military and several wounded, according to the Malian government.

On April 30, 19 people were killed during an attack by rebels of the CMA against the army, Lere, in central Somalia. The CMA had justified the attack by taking Lere, April 27, of its positions to Menaka (north) by pro-government armed groups.
