Washington confirmed the death of Kayla Mueller held by Daesh

Washington – The US President Barack Obama on Tuesday confirmed the death of Kayla Mueller, the US aid worker held by the Islamic State (EI) since May 2013.

“It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Kayla Jean Mueller (…). On behalf of the American people, I offer my deepest condolences to his family,” Obama said in a statement .

The Islamic state announced Friday the death of the young American of 26 years during an air raid of the international coalition in Raqa region of northern Syria.

The US chief executive vowed that “no matter how long it takes, the United States find and bring to justice the terrorists responsible for the captivity and death of Kayla.”

For its part, the Mueller family announced it had received confirmation of the death of Kayla.

A native of Arizona (southeast), Kayla Mueller arrived in December 2012 at the Turkish-Syrian border to work with two NGOs helping Syrian refugees, Support to Life and Danish Refugee Council. She had been abducted by IS. in Aleppo (north-west), coming out of a Doctors Without Borders hospital.
