Workshop in Bamako about Sahel terrorist threats

A regional workshop on terrorist threats in the Sahel and the means to face it started Monday at the National Judicial Training Institute in Bamako.

Organized by the College Security Sahelian (CSS) with support from the European Union and the Government of Mali, this five-day workshop brings together elements of the Defense Forces and Security, judges, journalists and civil society actors in the countries of the sub region.

The work of this workshop is focused on several themes including related legal instruments and policies against terrorism, terrorist threats in the Sahel and awareness of technical people on issues of terrorism.

Speaking at the opening session, the Malian Minister of Security, Sada Samake, called all the Sahel countries’ to unite to fight terrorism in all its forms. ”

The Bamako meeting is a continuation of the one held in 2014 by the CSS in Niamey on ‘terrorist financing’.

Established in 2014 as a joint initiative of Mali, Niger and Mauritania, Sahel Security College, with a budget of 9.6 million euros, aims to promote cooperation in the eradication of terrorism is becoming increasingly important in the Sahel region.
