“Morocco on the move” the heart of a discussion meeting in Lisbon

A host of professors and Moroccan and Portuguese society actors have engaged Tuesday night in Lisbon, an analysis embracing the various facets of the dynamics in Morocco in various fields.

During this discussion meeting organized under the theme “Morocco on the move,” the former Portuguese ambassador in Rabat, Joao Rosa La, said in a speech entitled “Perceptions of contemporary Morocco,” the assets that make the specificity of Moroccan model, citing in this regard the monarchy which, according to him, a national cohesion.

It is also, according to the diplomat, the geostrategic position of the country between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic as well as cultural diversity and pluralism of Morocco.

Mr. La Rosa has similarly focused on the dynamics of the reforms under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI in various fields, as well as major structural projects and major projects launched in various fields.

For its part, Lahcen Oulhaj, Dean of the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Rabat, presented the outline of the new constitution adopted in 2011, stressing that the new Basic Law was made in continuity and not in the rupture, and thus comes top all a process of reforms initiated since the 90s.

The meeting which was attended notably Morocco’s ambassador to Portugal, Karima Benyaich, is organized by the Moroccan Memory Foundation for the Future in partnership with the Portuguese Academy of art and culture and with the support of the Embassy from Morocco to Lisbon. Also took part in the debate accredited foreign diplomats in Lisbon, Moroccans residing in Portugal and Portuguese society actors.
