The second edition of the Global Forum on Human Rights GFHR opened Thursday early evening in Marrakech with the participation of more than 6,000 people from a hundred countries representing local and international NGOs, UN agencies, governments, national institutions of human rights, international organizations, professional groups and political leaders, global players in development and human rights, trade unions and businesses.
Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the forum, which will last until 30 November, is a platform to discuss several issues, including the rights of children, women, people in situations with disabilities and migrants, in addition to other unresolved issues from the Vienna Conference on Human rights and other issues related to the new generation of human rights.
The opening session was marked by the message from HM King Mohammed VI to the participants in the World Forum on Human Rights. The list of participants includes Nobel Peace Prize, heads of UN agencies, government representatives, NGOs, leading academics, worldwide activists of human rights, the international media and several dignitaries.
The program of the World High Mass human rights provides thematic forums that will be organized and managed by civil society. The main conclusions of these forums will be presented at a final conference that will bring together civil society, representatives of the international system protection rights of the Man of the UN and international NGOs.
Work will take place in four areas, declined in conferences, thematic forums, workshops and artistic, cultural and sporting activities.
The organization of this forum is an international recognition of the achievements of the Kingdom in the field of human rights and reflects the dynamism of civil society and the opening of Morocco, land of welcome and tolerance dynamism.
The main objective of the Forum is to promote a space for public dialogue on human rights at the international level, where the main advances and challenges in this field will be discussed, with particular attention to the respect of difference, social participation and the principles of equality and parity. The 1st World Forum of Human Rights was held in 2013 in Brazil.
