Morocco Leading Government Party PJD Afraid from Ghellab Parliament President Candidacy

The Justice and Development Party (PJD) leading the Moroccan government said Wednesday that it is surprised by the nomination of Karim Ghellab, from opposition party, for a second term as head of Parliament Representatives House. If he succeeded, this would inflict the “hard blow of the democratic process,” the party said.
“It is an application that deviates democratic logic, and the insistence of Karim Ghellab, who defends his application means that there is someone who push him in order to succeed. This is surprising,” said Abdelali Hamieddine , vice president of the National Council of the PJD .

“It is not healthy for democracy; logic dictates that the chair comes from the majority. We are cautious and vigilant,.. the majority parties will meet Thursday, April 10, at the eve of the vote, to strengthen their solid position . “According to Hamieddine , considered one of the Islamist party hawks, the majority is “aware of what is happening .” “In terms of balance of power,” he added.

Another leader of the PJD, speaking on condition of anonymity, also expressed his surprise that “the opposition should be united against this application.” “I am surprised, because among its ranks, there is a party that has not even been able to agree among its members on the one that will represent the Chamber of representatives. There is a hand that is pushing the tractor, “he has said.
