Kigali – First Lady of the Republic of Rwanda, Her Excellency Jeannette Kagame, hosted an official dinner on Monday in Kigali in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, who is on a working visit to Rwanda.
On this occasion, Rwandan Minister of Health Sabin Nsanzimana delivered an address in which he praised the vision, generosity and personal commitment of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, highlighting the tireless efforts of Her Royal Highness and the Lalla Asmaa Foundation to support deaf and hard-of-hearing children throughout their journey, from healthcare to rehabilitation and education, and help them build their future.
He also stated that the Hearing Diagnosis and Rehabilitation Center, inaugurated today by HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa and Jeannette Kagame, embodies the excellence of the friendship between Rwanda and Morocco by providing Rwandans with a place where they can access hearing care, rehabilitation and long-term support.
The Rwandan minister also underscored that the Lalla Asmaa Foundation and the Imbuto Foundation, chaired by Rwanda’s First Lady, had worked together to establish a center that will support deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families for many years to come.
Nsanzimana noted that the Hearing Diagnosis and Rehabilitation Center also forms part of Rwanda’s broader commitment to strengthening the skills of its healthcare personnel and bringing specialized care closer to the population.
“To our Moroccan and Rwandan medical teams, I extend my sincere thanks for your expertise, commitment and dedication. The procedures performed represent a remarkable achievement, and your work bodes well for the future,” he said.
On the same occasion, Nsanzimana expressed the hope that this Moroccan-Rwandan partnership would continue to thrive, helping expand access to hearing care by strengthening local expertise and making these services available to a greater number of children in Rwanda and the region.
Attending the dinner were members of the delegation accompanying HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa, notably Youssef Imani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Rwanda; Mohamed Methqal, Ambassador and Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation; and Karim Essakalli, Delegate President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation.
Also invited to the dinner were Rwanda’s Ambassador to Morocco, Shakilla K. Umutoni, and Brigadier General Dr. Eugene Ngoga, Commander of Rwanda’s Military Referral and Teaching Hospital.
