Futsal Africa Cup of Nations: Morocco crowned African champions for the 4th consecutive time

Morocco continues its reign over African futsal. The Atlas Lions secured their fourth consecutive continental title on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in Rabat, defeating Angola 5-2. This historic victory allows the national team to set a new record in the competition.
The Moroccan futsal team adds another line to its list of achievements. Crowned African champions in 2016, 2020, and 2024, Hicham Dguig’s men have now won a fourth consecutive continental crown, an unprecedented feat in the history of the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations.

Played in Rabat, the final saw the Atlas Lions defeat Angola 5-2, thanks to goals from El Idrissi, Jaouad, Raiss El Fenni, Amazal, and Bakkali. It was a rematch of the previous edition’s final in 2024, which Morocco won 5-1.

An impressive run to victory
Morocco entered the final after a flawless campaign. During the group stage, the Atlas Lions dominated Algeria (4-0), Zambia (7-0), and Libya (6-0), finishing the first phase with 17 goals scored and none conceded.

In the semi-final, Hicham Dguig’s men confirmed their superiority by defeating Egypt 6-0, the three-time African champions.

With this victory in the final, Morocco concludes the competition with five wins in as many matches, 28 goals scored and only two conceded, illustrating its offensive efficiency and defensive solidity.

A Decade of Continental Domination
This fourth consecutive title crowns a decade of Moroccan dominance in African futsal. Since its first title in 2016, Morocco has established itself as the continental benchmark in the sport, under the leadership of Hicham Dguig.

Beyond the trophy, this latest triumph illustrates the consistency of a team that has maintained its level of performance across editions and renewed its squad while preserving its ambitions.

With four consecutive titles, the Atlas Lions have set a historic record and solidified their place at the pinnacle of African futsal.
