Border Control Costs 2.2 billion Dirhams a Year for Morocco

Morocco spends 2.2 billion dirhams to ensure control of its borders, said the Interior Minister, Mohamed Assad, said jeuneafrique in a quote by EFE.

Mohamed Assad considers “exorbitant” the money disbursed by the Kingdom in the fight against illegal immigration at its borders.

This amount serves in particular to ensure the work of 13,000 screeners, the supply of materials and technologies.

Moreover, the minister said that 1,350 Moroccans are now in the ranks of Daech, of which 220 are former prisoners. Many of them occupy positions of responsibility, he stressed, adding that 286 Moroccans were killed in action and 156 are returned to the country.
