Washington – The US State Department highlighted Friday in Washington, the character “global” of Morocco’s strategy for fighting terrorism in the framework of a “consolidated transparency” and “adherence to standards of human rights.”
“Morocco has implemented a comprehensive strategy for combating terrorism, which relies on vigilant security measures, the regional and international cooperation, as well as policies against radicalization,” said US diplomacy in its annual report on terrorism in the world, under 2014.
The document stresses, in this context, “the commitment of the Moroccan authorities in the fight against the scourge of terrorism without this being an excuse to deprive individuals of their rights,” highlighting “the accession of Morocco to standards of human rights “in the context of a” consolidated transparency. ”
The report comes on the other hand, the efforts made by Morocco in order to further improve its legal system, citing in particular the adoption by the House of Representatives of the law providing for the exclusion of civil competence the military court.
The US diplomat also noted the diligence with which the anti-terrorist services have carried effectively to dismantle terrorist cells in Morocco, as part of an approach that combines intelligence gathering, police work, and collaboration with regional and international partners.
The report recalls, in this regard, the signing in August of last year in Washington, a bilateral framework agreement on counter-terrorism assistance, particularly for a triangular cooperation on safety training.
Under this memorandum, signed on the sidelines of the first US-Africa summit hosted by the US federal capital, the two countries undertake to strengthen regional capacity, especially in the field of training of the emergency services staff countries partners in the Maghreb and the Sahel, through the mobilization of mutual expertise in areas such as crisis management, border security and investigations.
