Hakim Benchemass of PAM party was elected this Tuesday, October 13, chairman of the House of Councillors, just ahead of his rival Istiqlal abdessamad qaiouh by one vote.
Benchemmass got 58 votes against 57 for Kayouh. Four abstentions elected the Democratic Labour Confederation (CDT) and a draw Buletin were registred in the election of the new Speaker of the House of Councillors.
In the first round, the two candidates have not been able to decide: 57 votes for and 51 Benchemmass Hakim abdessamad qaiouh while the absolute majority of 61 votes. During the first round, 8 invalid ballots and 4 abstentions were recorded.
