Morocco Dismatles terrorist Cell Recruiting Moroccan fighters for Daesh

Rabat – The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) within the Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) dismantled Tuesday a terrorist network consisting of 10 persons that were active in the cities of Casablanca Boujniba in the area of ​​recruitment of Moroccan fighters to join the ranks of the organization called Daesh in Syria and Iraq, said the Interior Ministry in a statement.

The painstaking investigations conducted by the BCIJ revealed that under the subversive agenda of Daesh to expand its operations outside the home (Iraq and Syria), the leader of this cell planned in coordination with foreign heads of EI active in the field, to form sleeper cells in order to carry out terrorist projects in the Kingdom, in view of the establishment of the presumed “Caliphate”, the source added.

The ministry, which states that this transaction is in the context of the fight against terrorist threats, says that the investigation and monitoring have confirmed that some cell members, who have a great knowledge in manufacturing explosives were in contact with Moroccan fighters of the organization called the Islamic State in connection with planning terrorist attacks against sensitive buildings in the Kingdom with financial and logistical support from leaders of that organization.

The respondents will be brought to justice once finished the investigation, which is continuing under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, said the ministry.
