More than 310 civilians have been killed in Syria in 2014 due to lack of food and medicines in areas besieged by the regime, especially near Damascus, according to a statement from the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (OSDH).

Since the beginning of the year and until the night of 26 December, 313 civilians, including 34 women and 101 children, have been died because of lack of food and medicines due siege by regime forces, reports NGO Saturday.

The majority of the victims lived in the eastern Ghouta, Damascus province region under siege for a year and a half, the source added.

Eastern Ghouta is considered one of the main strongholds of the rebellion against the Assad regime
