Blood Donation Campaign to Replenish Regional Stocks

Oujda – The Moroccan Agency for Blood and Blood Products (AMSD) in the Oriental region launched a blood donation campaign on Monday in Oujda. The campaign aims to bolster regional reserves of this vital product, promote a culture of donation, and uphold the values of solidarity, mutual support, civic responsibility, and volunteerism.

Organized over four days in partnership with the Oriental Region Blood Donors Association, under the slogan “A Drop of Blood, a Life for Someone Else,” this campaign is part of ongoing efforts to meet the growing needs of the region’s healthcare facilities, particularly for accident victims, cancer patients, and those suffering from chronic illnesses.

In this regard, the AMSD representative in the Oriental region, Sanae Ismail, told the press that this solidarity initiative has seen broad participation from civil society actors and student clubs, notably the Lions Club and the SOS Club of the National School of Business and Management (ENCG), as well as the “Initiative Bienfaiteur” association.

The regional representative praised the strong mobilization of citizens, particularly young people and students, emphasizing that the decision to locate the campaign near university campuses, combined with advance communication efforts, largely contributed to this high turnout.

She added that this initiative demonstrates a growing awareness of the importance of blood donation and its essential role in saving lives, in a context marked by increased demand. She specified that it also aims to collect as many units of blood as possible to help address the shortage of this vital resource, essential for the care of numerous patients and injured individuals.

For his part, Soufiane Dolfi, president of the Oriental Region Blood Donors Association, stated in a similar declaration that this campaign aims to replenish blood supply reserves, which are under severe strain due to increased demand, particularly related to road accidents and surgical procedures during the summer months.

Noting that such initiatives are of paramount importance for supporting blood banks, he highlighted the commitment of civil society actors in organizing donation campaigns and their essential role in promoting a culture of blood donation and encouraging citizens to help save the lives of the sick and those in need.

Dolfi pointed out that the organizers hope to attract 150 donors per day, in order to reach the target of 600 donors throughout the campaign, and called on the city’s residents to turn out in large numbers at the campaign site during the remaining days.

For their part, several donors expressed their pride in participating in this noble humanitarian initiative, which directly contributes to saving lives, encourages positive engagement in volunteer activities and strengthens the culture of solidarity within society.
