Vote Buying: PJD Suspend 2 Parliamentarians

The secretariat of the PJD party said that it held October 8th an extraordinary meeting at which it was decided to suspend “preventively” parliamentary Hamid Zatni and Youssef Benjelloun, and that until the Justice rules on this case.

The General Secretariat of Justice and Development Party (PJD) announced Oct. 9 its decision to suspend “preventively” two of its MPs cited in the press release of the government commission on monitoring elections to the alleged use money to buy votes in the election of members of the House of Councillors.

In a statement, the secretariat of the PJD party said he held October 8th an extraordinary meeting at which it was decided to suspend “preventively” parliamentary Hamid Zatni and Youssef Benjelloun, and until Justice ruling on the matter, adding that the decision was made “the constant adherence to party principles of integrity and transparency that are a pillar of its approach to political action.”

While highlighting “the importance of immunizing the free will of the voters against any form of influence, including using money, and the need to take all measures to guarantee the integrity and transparency of the electoral process, “the General Secretariat of the PJD stresses the need to” respect the conditions of a fair trial, in particular the respect of the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, “the statement concluded.
