The Executive Council of the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA) examined, here Wednesday, a series of measures and initiatives to make this structure a strategic partnership platform between the African news agencies and expand cooperation at regional and international levels.
During this meeting, FAAPA chairman and MAP Director General, Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, presented two partnership agreements with the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies (AMAN), in addition to a draft agreement with the Union of Latin American News Agencies (ULAN).
In addition to the training and equipment pack planned with the UfM, these new partnerships will enable the FAAPA meet its ambitious targets for skills development and to open up internationally, Hachimi Idrissi underlined.
The African Atlantic Federation of Press Agencies, chaired by the Moroccan news agency MAP, will hold its first general assembly on November 26-27 in Rabat.
On the sidelines of the General Assembly, FAAPA is organizing a seminar on “Strengthening Managerial Capacity of African News Agencies” with the participation of the Directors Generals of FAAPA member agencies.
The program includes in particular the report of activities of FAAPA, the website of Federation, the training of journalists, the examination of the project to grant the prize of best article, best photo, best video report and best audio report.
