Morocco’s Government Chief Abdelilah Benkirane on Thursday called on striking medical students to resume their studies and dialogue with the concerned parties.

The Government Chief department preferred not to intervene in this issue to let it be settled within the framework of the ongoing dialogue, however the conflict has long lasted and reached, mainly on Wednesday, an impasse when strikers prevented other students to get into classrooms, Minister of communication, spokesman of the government, Mustapha El Khalfi, said in a press briefing following the weekly cabinet meeting.
Pursuing studies is a right guaranteed by the law, and the government will take the necessary measures to protect the right of those who wish to have access to classrooms, Benkirane stressed, recalling that students have asked for a meeting with him, which “he will do when appropriate”.
“Those who want to resume their studies should have the possibility to do so, as well as those who wish to continue the strike and jeopardize their future,” Benkirane pointed out.
