A study group belonging to the Tokyo Univesity which conducts research on emerging countries is about to publish the “White Paper on terrorism in Morocco.” It will be presented on 15 May.
Morocco’s history with terrorism seems to interest the highest point even of the most remote areas. “The Tokyo University,” one of the most prestigious of Japan, has just completed a book entitled “The White Paper on terrorism in Morocco.” It was made by a study group of Japanese university that conducts research on emerging countries. Among the researchers who worked on this project include the Japanese university, a Korean, a Kazak, but also the Moroccan Mustapha Marzouzi presented as a researcher working in several Asian universities.
The research in this paper debunks the shortcut that the “jihadists” would come only Moroccan disadvantaged backgrounds. “The phenomenon is transversal to the whole society and some ‘fighters’ Moroccans have profiles frames,” explain our sources. The research finally concludes that events abroad (war in Iraq, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, rising Islamophobia in Europe …) in addition to the identity crisis experienced by some Moroccans, facilitate recruitment by terrorist organizations.
