The French NGO based in Paris, ACAT (Action by Christians for the Abolition of Torture), which had accused the Moroccan authorities in February of torture has been called to appear before the district court in Rabat.
A representative of ACAT is convened for 26 February before the high court in Rabat, according to a letter to the NGO and dated January 13.
The NGO is notably accused of libel, contempt against constituent bodies, public insult and incitement to give false testimony, according to the letter.
“With this grotesque injunction, Morocco another attempt to silence the victims of torture and NGOs fighting against torture in Morocco,” ruled the NGO in a statement. This is the beginning of the quarrel between the two capitals.
