Morocco elected President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean

The president of the Chamber of Advisors, Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah, was elected on Tuesday; President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) completed its 9th plenary session held since Monday in the Principality of Monaco.

Biadillah was unanimously elected for a term of two years (2015-2016) at the head of this international organization, founded in 2005 and aimed to strengthen political, economic and social cooperation between the Mediterranean countries and to promote the creation of an area of peace and prosperity for all peoples of the Mediterranean.

In a speech on this occasion, Biadillah expressed his thanks for the confidence placed in him by the members of the assembly, and its determination to work for the strengthening of the principles and noble objectives of the PAM, in harmony with the strategy of the Assembly for the period 2013-2017.

Moroccan presidency of the PAM also intends to respond “to the priorities of the current period, in particular the promotion of the spirit of cultural dialogue based on tolerance and peaceful coexistence and the fight against all forms of fundamentalism and more strengthening initiatives for the establishment of peace in the Middle East and South-South cooperation. ”

The closing session also focused on the appointment of members of the APM office and the giving of the PAM Prize for 2014, awarded including HRH Prince El Hassan Bin Talal, chairman of the Royal Institute of Studies interfaith Jordan, Jubran Tawil, Ambassador of Palestine to Malta and several other personalities
